In September 2006, the Department for Transport's latest annual report on road casualty statistics analysed contributory factors to road crashes for the first time.
"Failed to look properly was the most frequently reported contributory factor and was involved in 32 per cent of all accidents. Five of the six most frequently reported contributory factors were some kind of driver or rider error or reaction."
These statistics demonstrate that maintaining concentration and keeping in-vehicle distractions to a minimum, are key to safe driving.
Using a mobile phone while driving is, without doubt, a significant distraction. The Call Divert Workshops will enable drivers to be aware of the potential dangers and make more informed decisions about using communication technology when driving in future.
